Change of Management: Top Manager Saori Dubourg appointed new CEO of Greiner AG

Vienna/Kremsmünster, January 17, 2024 – The Supervisory Board of Greiner AG has appointed Saori Dubourg (52) as CEO effective March 1, 2024. Born in Germany, Dubourg was most recently a member of the Board of Executive Directors at the listed chemicals group BASF from 2017 until early 2023. Saori Dubourg will succeed Axel Kühner, who left the company after 15 years at the end of last year.

“We are proud and happy to have found an excellent manager and a strong character for our group in Saori Dubourg. Saori Dubourg will bring with her a broad range of valuable experience from her international career at the world’s largest chemicals group BASF. She impressed us in the application process with her strong focus on innovation and sustainability and her future-oriented approach,” says Dominik Greiner, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Greiner AG.

“I am very much looking forward to the new role and the creative scope it involves. There is a lot of transformation pressure on companies. At the same time, I have found the family company Greiner to be a pioneer when it comes to sustainability and the circular economy. The task of continuing and intensifying this approach is a very appealing one. I firmly believe that sustainable economic success can be achieved only through innovation as well as environmental and social responsibility. This is also consistent with Greiner’s values system, which I very much identify with,” says Saori Dubourg, designated CEO of Greiner AG.

Saori Dubourg (52) studied business administration at the University of Trier and started her career at BASF, the world’s largest chemicals group, in 1996. She held operational management positions at its headquarters in Ludwigshafen and at locations in the US, China, Japan, and Singapore. In addition to her various operational business roles, she was also responsible for heading the Sustainability Board. From 2017 to 2023, she served on the company’s Board of Executive Directors. In 2017 she was named by Manager Magazin and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as Female Manager of the Year, topping the list of the one hundred most influential women in German business. In 2021 she was designated Manager of the Year by Handelsblatt.

Alongside her management role at BASF, she was a member of the European Commission’s high-level group on industry, contributing to a vision paper for Europe 2030. She also serves on the German federal government’s Council for Sustainable Development and the Steering Committee of the Impact Taskforce, which was established in 2021 under the UK’s G7 presidency.

Dubourg was born in Augsburg in 1971. In addition to her native German, she speaks fluent English and French as well as Japanese. She will relocate from Germany to Austria in the coming weeks.
