Together with the charity "Geben für Leben – Leukämiehilfe Österreich", Greiner Bio-One organised a one-week typification campaign at the Kremsmünster site. Over 60 employees registered as potential stem cell donors. In addition, a €1000 donation was made.

Kremsmünster, December 2021 – As a manufacturer of plastic products for medicine and life sciences, Greiner Bio-One is making an important contribution to overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining international health systems. Health is also reflected in the activities the company engages in to fulfil its societal and social responsibility.

In the week from 6 to 10 December 2021, Greiner Bio-One and the charity "Geben für Leben" invited all employees at the Kremsmünster site to a typification and donation campaign. Over 60 people responded to the call and are now hoping to help a sick person as a stem cell donor. Thanks to a flexible participation concept, the campaign was successfully implemented despite the current restrictions and in compliance with the necessary safety measures. Voluntary participants were able to come by in person on the first day or pick up a typification kit for self-testing on the remaining days. As part of the campaign, money was also raised and the company gave a further donation. The charity will benefit from a total of 1,000 euros, which will be used to finance further typifications.

“We are delighted that so many colleagues have demonstrated commitment and supported the campaign with their typification or donation of money to give hope back to seriously ill people . This reflects our guiding principle that we want to make a difference to people's health.”

Rainer Perneker, CEO of Greiner Bio-One International GmbH

Giving seriously ill people a chance to live

When chemotherapy and radiation treatment no longer help, a stem cell donation to people with leukaemia or other blood disorders is the last hope for recovery. The more people who can be typified with a cheek swab or blood sample, the greater the likelihood that a suitable donor can be found.

Product donations and financing of around 900 typifications

Greiner Bio-One has been supporting the charity "Geben für Leben – Leukämiehilfe Österreich" since April 2021. Including the previous donations to the charity, around 900 typifications were financed for potential stem cell donors, and blood collection products were made available for the typification itself. With this partnership, Greiner Bio-One is sending an important signal for people's health according to its guiding principle of making a difference.
